Get Relief From Back Pain by Making Small Lifestyle Changes

The present day hectic lifestyle has resulted in several musculoskeletal disorders ranging from back pain, spondylosis, and arthritis to name a few. The long sitting hours while on work in uncomfortable postures result in pain in neck, lower back pain, pain in joints etc. It is estimated that more than 80% of population has suffered from lower pain or lumbago at one or the other stage in their life. This issue must be dealt with immediately. The pain can be chronic to moderate and acute and the symptoms often persist for a week and then disappear to come back again after a gap of some weeks or even months.

The general indications of back pain is severe pain is there in buttocks when one is bending or moving or walking. The pain may last for more than 2 to 6 days and generally extends down to knee then to foot and to ankle. There is stiffness being observed in back and hip and severe pain is felt even while sneezing or coughing.

As of today the exact reasons for lower back pain are not ascertained it is generally found to occur if someone already has an injury in the back muscles, spine or back bone. In addition to this irregular functioning of abdominal parts, excessive pressure on nerve roots or Sciatica, degeneration of spinal disc, finromylagia, osteomyelitis and even smoking have been found to cause pain in lower back. The other reasons that can be attributed to cause lower pain are long sitting hours while working on desktops and laptops.

One can resort to self medication and regular exercise to get relief in back pain if it is moderate, however expert advice and professional care is recommended for those suffering from acute back pain. At the same time one should also follow certain precautions for long term back pain relief in case of chronic cases.

Widely recommended prescriptions to get relief from lower pain include sleeping with soft pillows kept between the knees, regular exercise to improve blood circulation in muscles, painkillers such as ibuprofen and acetaminophen for instant relief from acute pain, applying heat or ice packs, drinking herbal tea of Chamomile, extracts of horsetail, fresh juice extracted from yarrow and application of black mustard seed pack that produces intense heat and gives soothing relief from back pain. Some other remedies may include application of eucalyptus oil, herbal oils, yoga exercises, meditation, breathing exercises such as Pranayam etc. All these prescriptions generally results in increase blood flow to the lower back muscles or lumbar region which results in rapid bone formation and subsequent pain reduction.
